Warren is in the Northwest corner of Minnesota, 30 miles from Crookston and Thief River Falls, MN and the same distance from Grand Forks, ND. There are almost 1,600 residents of Warren.

Agriculture continues to hold a predominate role in the local economy, but updated retail stores are bustling in Warren and health care (including a new hospital and assisted living), round out the sectors of employment available in Warren. In addition, families are choosing to live in Warren and commute to work elsewhere in the region, utilizing Warren’s schools, medical care, retail, and child care programs.

In early June of 2019, there was one child care center and 5 licensed family child care providers (down from 10 licensed family providers in 2017) in Warren. In June 2019, there was a potential need for 53 additional licensed child care slots to cover children under the age of 5 whose parents are in the work force. During the summer of 2019, several family providers have chosen to close their programs, making the need for additional child care programs in Warren even more severe.
