About Dawson-Boyd

Dawson is a progressive community located in Southwestern Minnesota with a population of 1,540. Dawson is a thriving town positioned on the Lac qui Parle River and U.S. Highway 212. The Dawson-Boyd School District is located in the city limits and serves students in grades PreK-12. The excellent public-school system offers a 1:13 ratio of teachers to students and has graduation rates above the state average.

The Dawson-Boyd area has a shortage of approximately 37 full-time licensed child care slots. Through the Rural Child Care Innovation Program, the community is working to address the current child care challenges and develop long term solutions that increase and sustain the supply of high quality child care.
