The city of Pipestone is located in southwestern Minnesota and is home to the historic Pipestone quarries, beautiful tallgrass prairie, manmade reservoirs, and the picturesque Winnewissa waterfall. The 2021 census reported 4,190 residents living in the City of Pipestone. 

The City of Pipestone is experiencing a shortage of available child care. Child care shortages impact families, employers, and the overall economic fabric of the community.  Through the Rural Child Care Innovation Program, the community is working to address the current child care challenges and create innovative and sustainable solutions that support existing programs and increase the support of quality child care.
